Port of Skjolden focus on sustainable development by Joining the Environmental Port Index (EPI)

The Port of Skjolden announces its membership in the Environmental Port Index (EPI), joining forces with 35 destinations across the North Atlantic to promote sustainable tourism.

EPI, initially formed by 12 Norwegian cruise ports, offers a platform for ports to assess the environmental impact of cruise ships. It focuses on how ships can improve their environmental footprint while in port. EPI's unique scoring system quantifies efforts to reduce emissions, supporting ports in implementing environmental incentive programs.

This membership underscores the port's commitment to sustainable development in the face of increasing tourism demands

Aligning with EPI’s sustainability practices allows Skjolden to adopt best practices early, ensuring our development is sustainable. The fact that the neighbouring cruise ports Flåm and Vik are already participating in this effort gives us a solid platform for local collaboration
— Viggo Sundvold, Port Director, Port of Skjolden
Skjolden’s addition strengthens our network and helps us to showcase a collective approach to sustainability
— Even Husby, CEO, EPI
